Winning Numbers
Loto Plus Tradicional
Loto is the main lottery game played in Argentina.
Draws take place twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 22:30 local time and are broadcast live on national television, with ticket sales ending at 21:30 on draw days and resuming shortly afterwards.
Entry costs ARS 40.
To play Loto, choose six numbers from 0 to 45 and two additional numbers called Jacks between 0 and 9. Players can select their own numbers or go for a Quick Pick for randomly generated ones.
On top of the main draw, there are two additional games called Loto Desquite and Loto Sale o Sale, each costing ARS 5.00 for a chance to win extra prizes.
Jackpot
Loto has a minimum guaranteed jackpot of ARS 50 million.
This is a rollover jackpot that can grow far higher due to the long odds.
Odds and Prizes
The odds of winning the Loto jackpot are 1 in 236,060,370.
These odds put Loto among the most difficult lotteries to win in the world, with secondary prizes also being tough, and in comparison to lotteries like US Powerball and Euromillions, the jackpot and secondary prizes are relatively small too.
Players can win prizes at six different tiers.
Prize Category | Numbers Matched | Winning Odds | Winning Odds % |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 6, plus 2 Jacks | 1 in 236,060,370 | 0.0000004 |
2 | 6, plus 1 Jack | 1 in 14,753,773 | 0.000007 |
3 | 6 | 1 in 8,430,727 | 0.00001 |
4 | 5, plus 2 Jacks | 1 in 1,092,872 | 0.00009 |
5 | 5, plus 1 Jack | 1 in 68,304 | 0.001 |
6 | 5 | 1 in 39,031 | 0.002 |
Payout and Taxes
Loto prize winners have just 15 days to make a claim, with winnings subject to some of the highest taxes in the world at 31%; however, because this tax is deducted by the lottery operator at source, players get to keep the advertised amount.
Loto prizes are paid out as lump sums only.
Who Can Play Loto?
Players must be at least 18 years of age to play Loto in Argentina.
Loto tickets can be purchased from authorized lottery agencies and outlets across the country, but although regional lottery operators have their own websites and a number of mobile apps, they do not sell tickets.
Loto is not available to players outside of Argentina.
History of Loto
Loto is administered by The City of Buenos Aires Lottery company and is available across all of Argentina.
