Dupla Sena is one of Brazil’s most popular national lottery games, with entries to this unique game costing BRL 4.00.
Dupla Sena is a unique lottery game because of its two draws. Players enter the same numbers into both draws, with the BRL 4.00 ticket covering entry into both.
Dupla Sena draws take place three times a week, for a total of six weekly draws! These take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 20:00 local time.
Players choose six numbers between 1 and 50, or can enter with six randomly generated numbers. Players can also increase their stake by entering “Dozens”, choosing up to 50 numbers that are entered in a variety of combinations. Playing a "Dozen" increases the ticket price, but also improves the chance of winning a prize.
The minimum jackpot offered by Dupla Sena is BRL 300,000.
Dupla Sena has no jackpot or rollover cap, with the top prize sometimes escalating quickly as there are three draws per week.
The biggest ever Dupla Sena jackpot wins are:
The odds of winning the Dupla Sena jackpot are 1 in 15,890,700. These are reasonable odds for a lottery jackpot. However, several lotteries around the world offer bigger payouts, but with similar or better winning odds. For example, Brazil’s Dia de Sorte lottery offers the same jackpot but at far better odds.
Due to both of the Dupla Sena draws having the same mechanics, the odds across all prize tiers are the same for both draws. The only difference is that the prizes are slightly lower at the secondary prize tiers for the second draw.
In addition to the jackpot, players can win prizes at two additional tiers for both of the Dupla Sena draws.
Dupla Sena jackpot winners can receive their winnings as a lump sum or as annual payments. There is no set term for annual payments, with jackpot winners agreeing on a payment schedule that suits them.
Taxation on lottery winnings in Brazil is 13.8%.
Players outside of Brazil should check local laws to find out if their winnings will be subject to further taxation.
Dupla Sena tickets are available from authorized retailers across Brazil.
Dupla Sena can be played online by Brazilian residents and by lottery enthusiasts from around the world.
Dupla Sena was launched in November 2001 as a new lottery to give Brazilian players an alternative to the traditional single-draw lotteries that were available and accessible at the time.
