Lucky for Life is a popular multi-jurisdictional lottery played in 22 US states and the District of Columbia. The participating Lucky for Life states are Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming.
Lucky for Life draws are held daily at 22:30 Eastern Time / 21:30 Central Time / 20:30 Mountain Time.
Lucky for Life tickets cost $2.00. To enter, choose five numbers between 1 and 48 and a Lucky Ball number between 1 and 18 or go for a Quick Pick for randomly generated numbers.
Advance Play is available for up to 30 draws, depending on state of residence. Some states offer online subscriptions to ensure that you never miss a game.
Jackpot
The Lucky for Life top prize is fixed for life at $1,000 per day, with the second prize being fixed for life at $25,000 per year.
The lump-sum prize is split when there is more than one top prize or second prize winner, plus the option to receive payouts in reduced regular instalments if desired.
Due to the nature of the Lucky for Life draw, there are no rollovers.

Payouts and Taxes
Lottery prizes over $5,000 are generally subject to at least 24% federal tax across the United States, increasing to 30% depending on citizenship and residency status. State taxes also apply in accordance with local laws.
The Lucky for Life top prize and its second prize can be paid out as a lump sum, at $5.75 million for the top prize and $390,000 for the second prize, with it also possible to receive annual payouts over at least 20 years.
If top prize and second prize winners die before receiving 20 years of payouts, the remaining payments go directly to their estate as a lump sum.
Who Can Play Lucky for Life?
Players must be at least 18 years of age to buy Lucky for Life tickets in most participating states. The exceptions to this rule are Nebraska and Iowa, where players must be 19 years of age and 21 years of age, respectively.
Lucky for Life tickets can be purchased from authorized lottery retailers across all participating states, with participants also being able to play online.
As of November 2021, Lucky for Life is no longer available to overseas players via Lottery Agent websites.
History of Lucky for Life
Lucky for Life was originally launched in 2009 as a Connecticut state lottery. The game extended to become a multi-jurisdictional game covering the New England region in 2012, before adding eleven other states in 2015 and another seven since then.
Missouri, South Carolina and Minnesota left Lucky for Life in 2021, with Missouri now participating in the similarly named Cash4Life game.
