Daily Grand
Daily Grand is one of three national lottery games played across Canada.
Draws take place twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays at 19:30 Pacific Time (22:30 EAT). Ticket sales close just before the draw is made and resume immediately afterwards.
Tickets cost CAD 3.00.
To enter, choose five numbers between 1 and 49 and a Grand Number between 1 and 7, with Quick Pick available for players who prefer randomly generated numbers.
Players can enter Daily Grand using the same numbers for up to a year in advance, or subscribe to never miss a draw.
Also called Encore, the Extra game is available for a further CAD 1.00, with players receiving a seven-digit number at random. Matching all seven digits in order wins the CAD 1 million jackpot, with secondary prizes being awarded to players who match the last two to six digits.
Jackpot
Daily Grand has a fixed jackpot of CAD 1,000 per day for life for individual winners; however, if there are multiple winners, a jackpot pool of CAD 7 million is shared and paid out as equal cash lump sums.
The second prize is CAD 25,000 per year for life, with multiple second prize winners sharing CAD 50,000 instead.
In other lotteries with a similar format, ‘for life’ is usually around 20 years. However, in Daily Grand, this literally means for life! As such, players can identify a beneficiary who will continue to be paid if less than 20 years of payments have been received, with winners who live longer than this continuing to receive regular amounts!
Odds and Prizes
The odds of winning the Daily Grand jackpot are 1 in 13,348,188.
Players can win prizes at nine different tiers, with overall odds of 1 in 7 of winning a prize.

Payout and Taxes
Lottery prizes are tax free in Canada at provincial and federal levels.
Prize winners have up to one year to make a claim.
Instead of taking regular payments, jackpot winners can opt for a cash lump sum of CAD 7 million, while second prize winners can take a lump sum of CAD 500,000 instead of the regular payment option. Winners must notify the lottery operator of their decision within 60 days.
Note that winners are not paid daily even though the name of the game suggests otherwise, but instead receive cash in instalments agreed with the lottery operator.
