Super Lotto

Super Lotto, known locally as Power Color or Power Lottery, is a Powerball-style game and Taiwan’s most lucrative and popular lottery.

Draws are held twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays at 20:30 local time.

Tickets cost NT$ 100.

Players must choose six numbers from 1 to 38 and an additional number between 1 and 8, or can go for a Quick Pick to randomly generate the main number, additional number or all numbers.

System Entry enables players to choose up to 16 main numbers per ticket, plus all eight additional numbers, which are then entered into the draw in every possible combination. While this vastly improves the chances of winning, choosing 16 numbers would lead to a ticket price of NT$ 800,800!

Another option is System Allocation in which players choose five main numbers and then pay for multiple lines containing each remaining number.

Advance Play is also available for up to 10 games at a time.

Jackpot

Super Lotto offers a minimum jackpot of NT$ 200 million, in addition to having uncapped rollovers.

The biggest Super Lotto win to date is NT$ 3.124 billion, shared by two winners in July 2020.

Odds and Prizes

The odds of winning the Super Lotto jackpot are 1 in 22,085,448.

Super Lotto has 10 prize tiers in total, with the overall odds of winning a prize at 1 in 10.

Payout and Taxes

Players have three months to claim prizes, which are paid out as lump sums only.

20% tax applies to winnings exceeding NT$ 5,000; however, because this is deducted at source, players do not need to declare their winnings for tax purposes.

Who Can Play Super Lotto?

Players must be at least 21 years of age to buy Super Lotto tickets, which is set to decrease to 18 years of age on January 1, 2023.

Tickets can only be purchased from authorized lottery retailers across Taiwan. A mobile app is available that allows players to choose their numbers and then generate a QR code that can then be scanned at a lottery retailer to create a ticket. Neither the mobile app nor the lottery operator’s official website currently sell tickets.

Super Lotto is not available to overseas players.

History of Super Lotto

Launched in January 2008, Super Lotto has kept the same format throughout its existence. As with all Taiwanese lotteries, Super Lotto is operated by the Taiwan Lottery Company.
