Lotto
Lotto is one of several popular lottery games played in Finland.
Lotto costs €1.00 to play. Draws are held on live television, taking place once a week on Saturdays at 22:10 local time. Tickets are sold up to 21:45 on Saturday evenings, with sales resuming at 22:30 after the draw.
To enter Lotto, choose seven numbers between 1 and 40, or play with a set of randomly generated numbers. Players can also participate in Lotto in a variety of other ways.
In “System and Rake”, up to 18 numbers can be entered in different combinations to improve the chances of winning. An extra €0.50 adds “Plus” to the ticket, which doubles winnings if it matches the number drawn, with the exception of the jackpot.
There is also a Joker game that costs €2.00 to enter, with a jackpot of €1 million. Joker is played by selecting seven numbers from 0 to 9, with the jackpot being won by matching all numbers in the order they are drawn.
Jackpot
The minimum Lotto jackpot is €700,000 and there is no jackpot or rollover cap.
The biggest Lotto jackpot was won in 2018 at €14.5 million.
Odds and Prizes
The odds of winning the Lotto jackpot are 1 in 18,643,560.
These are favourable odds compared to many national lottery games, although these lotteries tend to have similar or better odds, but with far higher jackpots.
Players can win Lotto prizes at seven different tiers, with 1-in-50 odds of winning something.
