Superstar is Malta’s newest lottery game.
Draws are held once a week on Fridays at 19:45 local time and are broadcast live on national television, with the draw taking place on Thursday instead of Friday in the event of a public holiday. Ticket sales close one hour before the draw and resume immediately afterward.
Entry costs €2.50.
To play, choose five main numbers between 1 and 35 and a Superstar number from 1 to 7. Alternatively, players can go for a Quick Pick for numbers generated at random.
In System Entry, players pay more for a higher likelihood of winning, being able to choose up to 10 main numbers and all seven Superstar numbers if they wish, which are then entered into the Superstar draw in every possible combination. Quick Pick is also available for System Entry.
Advance Play is available for up to 30 consecutive draws.
Superstar does not have any additional games or chances to win on top of the main draw.
Superstar has a minimum guaranteed jackpot of €100,000. This is a rollover lottery with no jackpot limit or the number of rollovers that can occur.
The highest ever winning jackpot was €1.62 million in September 2019, which was the first time the jackpot had been won since its launch a year before.
The odds of winning the Superstar jackpot are 1 in 2,272,424. Seven different prize tiers are available.
Payouts for the top tiers are a percentage of the overall prize pool, with prizes at the lowest two tiers being fixed amounts.
Players have up to 60 days to claim Superstar winnings, which are paid out as tax-free lump sums.
Players must be at least 18 years of age to play Superstar. Tickets can be purchased from authorized lottery outlets across Malta and Gozo.
Superstar tickets are not currently available to players from overseas.
Launched in September 2018, Superstar is operated by Maltco Lotteries under licence from the Maltese Gaming Authority.
