Eurojackpot

EuroJackpot is a popular transnational lottery game played in 18 participating European countries. (Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Spain)

The price of a EuroJackpot ticket is usually €2.00, but this may vary per country. EuroJackpot draws take place once a week on Friday evenings at 20:00 Central European Time.

To enter EuroJackpot, choose five numbers between 1 and 50, plus two "Euro Numbers" between 1 and 10.

Players can also choose the "Quick Bet" option for randomly selected numbers.

Jackpot

EuroJackpot has a minimum guaranteed jackpot of €10 million.

There is no rollover cap, but the jackpot cap is fixed at €90 million. If the jackpot is not won when it reaches €120 million, some of the prize fund rolls down to the next tier, but the jackpot itself remains at €120 million until it is won.

The €90 million jackpot cap was increased to €120 million on March 25, 2022 and has been won several times since then.

Payout and Taxes

Taxation of EuroJackpot lottery winnings varies from country to country, with 11 of these countries not levying any tax at all; however, players who participate in EuroJackpot online may need to pay taxes in their home country.

Jackpot winners can choose to have prizes paid out as a lump sum or as annual payments.

Who Can Play EuroJackpot

EuroJackpot tickets are available from authorized lottery retailers, as well as online in participating countries.

Players who live outside the 18 EuroJackpot participating countries can also play online via Lottery Agent websites.

History of EuroJackpot

The idea behind EuroJackpot first materialized in 2006, although the first draw did not take place until March 23, 2012, when just six countries took part.

Before October 2014, Euro Numbers were chosen from just 8 numbers rather than the 10 of today. This change had a significant impact on the odds of winning, making rollovers and higher jackpots much more frequent.
